        CSC 390 - 1 to 3 S. H.

   II.  COURSE TITLE:

        Selected Topics

  III.  COURSE DESCRIPTION:

        Study of selected topics in the area of computer
        science providing opportunities for the study of
        material not covered in current course offerings.
        Special emphasis will be on emerging areas.  This may
        be repeated for credit with different content.
        Topics vary from semester to semester.  This may not
        be taken for major credit.

   IV.  PREREQUISITES:

        At least junior standing and permission of
        instructor.  The specific prerequisite(s) will be
        specified when the course is announced.

    V.  JUSTIFICATION:

        This course provides the student the opportunity to
        study topics in an area of interest in the discipline
        that are not ordinarly offered as a course.  This
        course will be taught on demand and listed as
        irregular in the college catalog.  This course is
        intended for non-majors.  Class size of 35 is
        expected.  The course is not being submitted for
        General Education certification.  The Computer
        Science Curriculum Committee must approve the outline
        and bibliography of the course before it is offered.

   VI.  COURSE OBJECTIVES:

        This course will allow the student to develop an
        understanding of the topic under discussion.

        Lectures, discussion, and class demonstration.

        Assigned readings, papers, and projects.
